Vote about which issues?
Actually, I don't know. I think Hosp.Ex Ne>t has still not enough people to make - in my eyes - meaningful surveys. I think the power in Hosp.Ex Ne>t is more to think about certain issues and get an option about it from different viewpoints (and spread it), and till now the size is still to overview to read everybodys opinion. What issues do you think of? Do you think it could attract more people? Do you think it would attract the 'right' people? Do you think the people - who are just reading until now - would vote then and give there opinion?

he alex,
first of all i was thinking about the ranking of the networks. till now it seems rather based upon individual experiences.
but iŽm also not sure about voting at all.
maybe there should be some votings about this issue?
best wishes,

1 thing i think is not so much a development of the site, i think that what you have got now is perfect for the number of users...maybe just whats needed is for each member to try and bring as many other users from networks onboard to improve the level of forum posting...
i posted link in hc forum and it seems to bring a few newbies n, if people see the thread in forum they can keep it alive and post their comments about this website there..the longer it stays the more active hc members will join...similar posting in other sites could also do the same...
any discussion requires multiple views..more people more ideas |

Hi Thorsten,
» first of all i was thinking about the ranking of the networks. till now it
» seems rather based upon individual experiences.
The ranking of the networks is based on the editorial part of Hosp.Ex Ne>t (although it isn't up to date right now anymore and needs some attention) and that is the special thing about Hosp.Ex Ne>t. On the Wiki and here on the forum are some public discussions about how we could create and use some objective measurement in the rating. Also ideas and thoughts from the Wiki (wich is open to everybody and I also tell everybody, who states fore example that here is false information on Hosp.Ex Ne>t, to edit instead to complain) can be taken over into this and we are very open to all ideas and points made. But as we had quite bad experiences with information out Wikis and given on the Networks (I'm sure the same will happen when you Vote about the rating of the Networks, as for example most people don't know much about all the other pages), we decided for the editorial team who stands behind the given information, so everybody can judge about it themselves. We hope that we can expand this 'expertise' in the future.
» but iŽm also not sure about voting at all.
I think at some points it would be good to have a voting - let's keep it in mind.

Re: spreading Hosp.Ex Ne>t.. |
Hi jeldridge,

Sure, it was a good start. But as Hosp.Ex Ne>t is growing there is also some need to change, or to change in order to can grow more.

That's a good thing. I think it brings quite a lot of active and people who are eager to discuss things into the forum and on the page as the links on Wikis bring some more Wikimaniacs. I added the link to here long time ago into my Profile Summary on HC. So every time I visit a profile, the person can read about the page and issues which are going on, like handing out flyers. Sometimes it is really interesting to see what interesting people are on HC, for example all the journalists which are eager to write about Hospitality Exchange..
So thanks for spreading this page & keep on doing it!

Re: voting or no voting.. |
one more thing about voting that came to my mind: it gives people more direct influence and they start to think more deeply about what they have to vote about.
if iŽd tell the editors "come on give zero points to cs because they recently wrecked all the data" weŽd maybe have an arguement about this and in the end i wouldnŽt see any influence from my suggestion and feel as a looser. if people vote they can see their influence even if they didnŽt "win".
than again i know what you mean with the bad experiences from wikis, so maybe we should wait with votings till there are enough capacities for conflict solution. on the other hand: such capacities donŽt fall from the sky
somehow the votes shouldnŽt be valid till the end of the world, i mean people change and so do opinions.

hi jeldridge,
that sounds good. i don't have anything in particular in mind yet, but any feedback to the layout of the page is welcome. also any graphics which make the page more easy and fater to understand are most welcome. for example graphics on the mainpage which gives a clear idea what the networks and the page here is about..
cheers,
alex
