02.05.2005 | .. over.

(Tijs) It was a great weekend with lots of sun, smiles and fun! The great location in the port of Scheveningen, the terrific vegetarian cooks and the cool workshops were the basic. But more important was the relaxing atmosphere and the nice mix of people from Poland, Lithuania, Germany, United States, France, Belgium ...

We were a bit worried about the amount of sleeping places that we could offer but it all went fine and nobody complained about the discomfort. Sleeping in the bus was a cool idea, it became the most cosy and popular sleeping place. In my house, I counted that there would be place for 8 people, but in the morning I found out that 8 people slept in just one room and 6 more in the other rooms!

Maybe we were a bit over-organized, with all the workshops, excursions and sportive activities that we planned. Most HC-ers preferred to breath the atmosphere of the fishing village with its traditional queensday kids activities instead of joining the partying crowd in Amsterdam. And just hanging around on the beach is something that can not easilly be beaten by other activities.

Let me thank you all for making the weekend a great success, especially the dutch members who convinced me to organize it and helped with the preparations: Bas (basszje) for all the preparations and driving, Alex (adia.info) for the website and messages, Stef (stefned) and Geert (pepito) for the handenspandiensten, Joost (joostdevries) for the mattrasses and excursion, Lusi and Yzza (miles23) for building up the beds, Anneke (copcai) for the Delft sightseeing, Ramune (lakune) and Aldo (aldootje) for the ideas, Mark (markbrynn) for hosting, Frederique (free2think) and Kevin (thebrain) for accomodation in Amsterdam, Aldert (aldert), Jenny (dutchamericanjenny) and Hoda (hoda) for activating the Utrecht-members, Esly (essely) and Jurgen (jurgen) for taking people to Groningen (and the disches!), Maren (marisa) and Sander (sanspek) for the cool workshop ideas, Aurelie (kenza888), Ronald (Sprinter), Marco (mrco) and the others for the stimulation and fun! (sorry if I forget someone).

Let's not wait too long to see each other again!

27.04.2005 | Less than 24 hours...

(Tijs) Less than 24 hours to go for the Spring camp, we're already busy with the final preparations. And we're happy that the rain has gone. The waeather foracast is sunny and rising temperatures (saturaday 23 degrees, sunday 27 degrees Celsius!)

Here is some last-minute info:
You can still register for the camp, because the register form was not working well for some time.
We realize that the fee of 10€ is a lot of many people, so we tried to make the costs as low as possible. That's why we decided to include one dinner and the
drinks in the price.
The good news is that me managed to have an extra sleeping accomodation for in case too many people subscribe. The bad news is that the location is not for
free, so we will only use it if nessesary. The extra sleeping places are in Zoetermeer, close to The Hague. There are extra night trains every half hour on queensnight to Zoetermeer (15 minutes from The Hague Central).
Public transport in The Hague is for free on Queensday. If you buy a train ticket to Amsterdam on queensday, you have public transport in Amsterdam for free as well.
Hope to see you all in The Hague tomorrow or somewhere in the weekend! Let's jump in the sea together!!

26.04.2005 | ..don't miss it!

(Tijs) Hi all,
I'm glad that a lot of people managed to find the registration form, because it spares us a lot of work. If you don't know how to register, then send an e-mail to alex (adia.info) or me (tijs).

If you did not register yet and want to come, it's a good idea to bring your tent and a warm sleeping bag. Several international friends of mine stayed on the beach of Scheveningen with their tent and they were never sent away in the middle of the night. Some of them were told to leave in the morning.

You can also go to an official campsite, not far from Scheveningen. Camping Duinhorst, Buurtweg 135, Wassenaar, tel: 31703242270. If you rent a bike on the central station of The Hague, you can get there in 20 minutes.

Anyway, the city and programme are cool, so don't miss it!

25.02.2005 | utrecht market

(esly) Members in Utrecht got the idea of making a HC stand during a ‘free market’ (a place where you can sell everything during Queensday) to get some money and do some promotion for HC as well. This markets take place in most cities in the country.

25.02.2005 | local meetings

(esly) A lot of local groups are organising meetings in the Netherlands to meet each other, but also to think together about the Dutch camp. In Utrecht, a group of members came together to talk about a city safari what will probably be organised on 1st of May. In Amsterdam, members will come together on 2nd of March and in Groningen, members from the north of the country will meet on 12th or March.

25.02.2005 | after the camp - 5th of May

(esly) 4. Less than a week after the camp, on the 5th of May, another special party will take place in the Netherlands. That day, it is 60 years ago that the country was freed from Nazi-Germany. In all provinces, music and street-theatre festivals will take place. For more information, you can take a look at this website: http://www.4en5mei.nl/portal/english.summary/remembrance.day.and.liberation.day.in.the.netherlands or; www.4en5mei.nl it’s easy to see where the English version is…

07.02.2005 | Brainstorm session in February

(esly) During the first brainstorm session in February, we had a lot of ideas for workshops and excursions, like; making a travelguide what can be placed on HC site, building sandcastles, guided tours through the centre of The Hague, learn how to repair a bike, see the multicultural site of Utrecht and many more. If you have a good idea and want to organise a workshop or excursion, contact us through the Interest-page.
