Arriving to the Camp

Train & Tram

From Schiphol Airport, Paris or Brussels, take a direct to The Hague. There are two main train stations in The Hague: Den Haag Hollands Spoor and Den Haag Centraal. From The Hague Central, located at the northern rim of the city-centre,.you can walk (30 minutes) or take tram 17 (15 minutes) to Statenkwartier. From station Hollands Spoor, take tram 10 or 11 to Statenkwartier. Leave the tram at Statenlaan and walk to the Second Port.

Tickets.
For the train, buy a ticket with a 40% reduction (met korting) If you don't have a reduction card, ask somebody on the train if he/she have one (most people will have it). A tram ticket is called strippenkaart and can be bought at the HTM desk on the station or every bookshop (15 strips for € 6,50). From The Hague Central to Scheveningen it you need 3 strips.

Walking

Go to the Second Port of Scheveningen (the one with the restaurants and sailing ships). Walk to the left along the water (dr. Lelykade). At the end, go the the right in direction England (Kranenburgweg) until you are in front of the gate of the Norfolkline ferry. Go to the right again into Hellingweg and behind a little beach you find the Vloek van Scheveningen. For a map of the trams, go to http://www.htm.net/smartsite.dws?goto=23

Hitch-hiking

It is illegal to hitchhike on motorways and junctions. Use the beginning of a motorway as a starting point or change point. On suitable places it takes usually 2 - 20 minutes to catch a motorstop to destinations within 50 kms. An efficient way to hitchhike is to ask around at petrol stations and service stations along the motorway. More info on: h http://www.franknature.nl/hitchhike/hitchhike.htm. By car

From France and Belgium, take the A16 to Rotterdam and then the A13 and A12 to Den Haag. From Germany, take the A12 to Den Haag until the end of the motorway. Then follow signs Scheveningen Haven. The speed limit outside the city is 80 km/h and 50 km/h within the city. On the highway the limit is 100 or 120 km/h. Drinking & driving is not allowed. Be aware of "shark teeth" painted on the road, it means you have to give way to the other traffic. Share rides?

Night busses

Trams usually run until 1:00 in the night. On thursdays, fridays and saturdays there are nightbusses in The Hague. Take bus N1 on 1:30 h, 2:30 h, 3:30 h, 4,30 h and 5:30 h from Buitenhof in the city centre to busstop Statenlaan. From Scheveningen to the city centre, N1leaves at 00:55, 01:55, 02:55 h, 03:55 h, 04:55 and 05:47 from Kurhaus and pass Statenlaan four minutes later. You can buy a special nightbus ticket from the drive (€2,50).

By bike

The most convenient way to get around in the city is by bike. Bicycles can be rented in Scheveningen for about 4.50 Euro per day at Du Nord Rijwielen, Keizerstr. 27-29 (tel. 070-3554060) or at the bikestall in the main train station for 5 Euro a day (4 if you buy a bike rental ticket beforehand in the train station). Make sure to always lock your bike: only in The Hague ten thousands of bikes are stolen every month.
